Østfold University College-Application Information for Exchange spring 2019

We are pleased to provide you with information regarding the application procedure for the spring semester 2019.

Our application deadline this year: November 15

Østfold University College has from this autumn on introduced a new online nomination and application service for exchange students. We are happy to announce that the nomination web is now open. For information on how to nominate your students, please click on the following link: https://www.hiof.no/english/studies/exchange-students/how-to-apply/index.html

Students who have been nominated will receive an email with password and instructions on how to complete their application.

Please contact international@hiof.no if you experience any problems when nominating students,  or if your institution needs to register a new user in the system.

Spring semester: 
Beginning of January until mid-June

There will be held an obligatory introduction day for all exchange students on Monday 7th January.
All exchange students are expected to arrive on campus between 3rd January and 6th January.

Information about accommodation:

We have new student houses located on both campuses, only a two minutes’ walk from the main campus building. For more information, seehttps://www.hiof.no/english/student-life/housing/

We recommend that students apply for accommodation as soon as possible after they have received their letter of admission. We guarantee housing for all our exchange students.
It is very important that your students let us know if they should choose another accommodation.

What Happening Now?

CEAIE – Benefits

CEAIE – Teach in China program will prepare participants by enrolling them in a TEFL certificate program before they step into a classroom. Round-Trip tickets from the U.S. to China, visa support, free housing, and a month of vacation are some of the benefits of the program.


Join now to listen in to our final webinar for the season. May 1st at 1:00 p.m. EST. There will be the chance for Q&A and also get some advice about the application.

The deadline to apply is May 7th, so don’t delay!

The China Educational Association of International Exchange (CEAIE) program will be a chance for teachers from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, or the United States of America to live and work in China for twelve months.

The aim of the program is to promote language exchange and mutual understanding among young people at home and abroad and to improve foreign language education in Chinese schools, CEAIE has been working together with partner organizations overseas to provide opportunities for young people and experienced teachers to work as language teachers in Chinese school at all levels since 2005. More than 1,000 international English teachers came to China by participating in Teach in China Program.

The application is live and additional information, including key dates, requirements, and eligibility criteria, are available on the website.

Experience Teaching and Living in China



The China Educational Association of International Exchange (CEAIE) program will be a chance for experienced teachers to live and work in China for twelve months. The aim of the program is to promote language exchange and mutual understanding among young people at home and abroad and to improve foreign language education in Chinese schools. CEAIE has been working together with partner organizations overseas to provide opportunities for young people and experienced teachers to work as language teachers in Chinese schools at all levels since 2005.

CEAIE is seeking candidates who:

  • Are a native speaker of English
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or above
  • Interested in teaching and living in China
  • Have teaching experience

Program benefits include:

New GEI Inspirational Video

Faculty-Led & Custom Programs in Africa and Asia

GEI videographer Kate Raphael accompanied a Faculty-Led & Custom Program delegation from the University of Texas in Tyler to Vietnam.

The resulting 4-minute video is a beautiful account of the students’ experiences. Together with peers from Hoa Sen University in Ho Chi Minh City, the delegation engaged in impactful service-learning projects at an SOS Children’s Village. Key focus areas were composting and art therapy.
